On Wednesday, the Year 8's attended a Disability Sport NI Boccia festival at Antrim Forum. Three Park School teams took part, competing with other special schools from across Northern Ireland.
Park Pumas and Park Pandas both did well, with some pupils representing the school for the first time in a sporting event, with both teams winning two of their four group games. The Pumas also lost a game cruelly on 'sudden death' despite the heroic efforts of McKenzie.
Park Panthers were superb in the group stage winning three of four games through their use of superior tactics and teamwork. This included a 7-0 win against Killard B team. They progressed as group winners to the quarter finals. Winning the quarter final in a tight 2-0 affair, thanks to a last gasp winner from Alfie, the boys marched on to the Semi final against Cedar Lodge. Losing the first leg 1-0 was a set back, but the second leg saw a characterful comeback with Archie and Carter starring in a 2-1 victory that came down to the last ball. On to the final, and Killard A awaited, in a tight affair the Panthers went 1-0 down in the first leg and despite all their efforts, Killard went on to claim a 2-0 victory overall and were deserved champions.
A massive congratulations to all students who took part, and well done to the Panthers on claiming the overall runners up position (and some medals!!!).
