Performance Skills

You will embark on a journey that’s part talent show, part boot camp, and all about turning you into a performance powerhouse. But don’t worry, this isn’t one of those dry, boring courses. It’s more like the "Great British Bake Off" of performing—except with fewer soggy bottoms and more standing ovations.

What's the Deal?

CCEA Performance Skills is all about developing your ability to perform, whether that’s on stage, in front of a camera, or, for the more introverted, in a small, dark room where no one can see you (kidding, sort of). You’ll explore the wonderful world of acting, singing, dancing, and probably pretending to be a tree at least once. By the end of it, you’ll have a shiny set of skills that could make you the next big thing—or at least the most dramatic person in your friend group.

The Key Components:

  1. Voice and Movement
You’ll learn how to use your voice like a pro—no more cracking mid-sentence during your Oscar acceptance speech. And movement? Well, you’ll go from awkward shuffling to graceful strides, or maybe just perfect the art of not tripping over your own feet. Think of it as becoming a human Swiss Army knife, equipped with everything you need to steal the show.

  2. Creating a Performance
This is where you get to unleash your inner creative genius. You’ll learn how to put together a performance that’s not just good, but jaw-droppingly fantastic. Whether you’re crafting a monologue, choreographing a dance, or finally mastering that Shakespearean insult (how now, thou crusty batch of nature!), this is your time to shine.

  3. Working in a Group
Ah, group work—the double-edged sword of education. You’ll learn to collaborate, compromise, and occasionally stop yourself from strangling your teammates. It’s all about teamwork, communication, and making sure that at least one person remembers the lines. By the end, you’ll be the kind of team player every director dreams of—someone who can share the spotlight and still dazzle.

  4. Self-Evaluation
Time to channel your inner critic (without going full Simon Cowell). You’ll learn how to assess your own work, spot your strengths, and figure out where you could improve. This is about being honest with yourself—yes, that dance move might have looked cooler in your head, but now you know how to make it work.

Why It’s Actually Fun:

Besides the obvious perks of being able to dramatically storm out of any room (with flair!), CCEA Performance Skills is an opportunity to discover new talents and maybe even a hidden passion for the stage. Plus, let’s face it, where else can you pretend to be someone else and get praised for it? Whether you’re aiming for Broadway, the West End, or just the school play, this course is your ticket to becoming a performance pro—without taking yourself too seriously.

So grab your script, warm up those vocal cords, and get ready to become the star of your own show. Who knows? By the end, you might just be thanking the academy.

Key Stage 3

In Drama at Park School, pupils have opportunities to develop their social and performance skills, and Whole Curriculum Skills and Capabilities. It allows pupils to explore, develop and express ideas and concepts, helping them to develop life skills and make sense of reality.
